Great Grey Owl--a simple gift

A Great Grey Owl hunted in our yard last week. It spun its head around and around looking for voles. At one point, it peered intently into the camera, then focused beyond it, listening and looking for dinner. The owl's unperturbedness at being watched and filmed was a simple gift to us on this winter day. Kayt and The Plumber first spotted our owl visitor.

  1. Hi, Persnickety!

I tried sending a comment last night, but it doesn't seem to have showed up.

Thanks for the poem on my blog.

  2. Hi, Sine and Kayt,

I'm so grateful for this view of your wild and wonderful life in Alaska.

It says under "our weather" that it's seven degrees ... above? Seriously? It's balmy today in Fairbanks!

    Keep filming!

  3. The belief is that when we see a vulture, it signals impending death. i would like to extend this to your owl....when an owl appears in your yard, it signals knowledge, inetelligence, and a boost to intellectual productivity! (if it works, i think i'll make my yard a vole farm...let me know!)
